It was an absolute thrill to meet little Calliope at her home in Wayland this weekend. Her parents are Shannon & Jim, and I photographed their engagement session at their home a few years back. It was great to see them, and so fun to see their house again, now home to a new baby! Shannon & Jim are amazing parents. You can tell by the way Callie looks at them with such love in her eyes. It was a big day for the family! Callie was given the go-ahead from her doctor to try rice cereal, so she tried it for the first time while I was there to document it! At first she wasn’t so sure about it, but eventually she decided that she liked the spoon, and then the cereal! I love these photos of the family because they really bring me back to being a first time parent and how exciting every single thing was! I remember my son trying solids for the first time and how we watched in anticipation to see what he thought! And I remember the look of pure happiness on his face that accompanied his first bite, and how he just couldn’t get enough.I did, however, forget about the messy faces. I have to admit I’m happy to be beyond that phase! Callie skipped her nap the morning of the session, so she was pretty sleepy while I was there. I’d forgotten about the glasses-grabbing phase as well, which luckily for me was short-lived! How cute is she!!?I love the look on Callie’s face in this photo. Callie likes to bounce with her parents. I remember this so fondly, bouncing with my son. It was always a source of calm for both of us. I love when documentary sessions end with a baby sleeping. It’s just the sweetest thing!
